Hail Everyone!...
I am Jean-Marc (aka) Pagan Owl.
I am your host for Upper Canada Pagan Gathering events. Mind you, we now have guests coming from the United States and all over Ontario, so it is not just for Upper Canada any longer.
This started as a dream in 2004. I was hoping to put together a weekend gathering of camping with friends on the May long weekend. Many others also want to shake the winter frost and get out there.

This is the main reason why the friends we have gathered now over the years are so important to the events we put together. So, Thank You to all that have been there through sun and rain with us. Thank You for your support.
It is also vital that those that go above and beyond by volunteering to be appreciated. Thank you to past and present crews for Midgard etc.
A Special thank you to Lynn (aka Nexus) for all the support she gave me while we were partners in life. Thank You Lynn for supporting all my flights of fancy.
A big thank you to Shannon, from EarthWorks Designs for temporarily hosting the UCPG site while we get re-organized and find a permanent host for our event.Thanks to all who attended, presented, sold and helped with the 6th Annual UCPG Midgard Festival. Looking forward to the future and building on our successes and learning from any mistakes.
Stay tuned for changes in crew for next year. This is my joy to organize. I will simply expand on positions and responsibilities for next year.
Mysteries Solved on Queen Vics birthday celebrations!!!
Why did we celebrate Queen Vics birthday in 2009 on May 18 instead of the following weekend which the 24th actually fell on??
"An amendment to the Statutes of Canada in 1952 established the celebration of Victoria Day on the Monday preceding May 25."
We will be looking for feedback for Midgard 2009. These are some of the points we will be asking for your feedback on.
1. We are considering changing it to rotating beliefs instead of Norse based
A: The general feedback I received from many was to keep it Norse and not rotate. So Midgard Festival will NOT have a rotating theme. I will remain Viking ;-)
2. Considering new locations to provide better shelter in case of rain etc.
A: The return to Whispering Pines turned out to be a great benefit especially for those seeking shelter, which was not available at Sunward. Even tho I loved the land at Sunward having shelter is a great benefit to Midgard. For this reason we will book again at Whispering Pines. It is still my dream to host it on my own land but until the Two Owls Eco Retreat is open we will stick with Whispering Pines.
3. Ideas for more workshops as many people cancelled their workshops at the last minute last year.
A: The workshops we had in 2009 where great. Weather delayed some and the schedule seem flexible enough to accommodate that. Next year posting a list of workshops and times and trying to keep to the times is a must.
